North Burnett - Bundaberg

Stopped at Childers on the way to Bargara, this is a very pretty National Trust town on the Bruce Highway, spent some time walking the main street looking at the architecture, well worth the stop.

Visited Bundaberg, Burnett Heads, the Port of Bunbaberg, before stopping at the turtle rookery at Mon Repos. Turtles are active from November to March, so we could only view the National Parks displays.

Drove south through Innes Park, Coral Cove, Elliott Heads & Riverview. It is the first time since reaching Queensland that the sea is blue instead of the brownish colour it has been, the coast here is very rocky (black volcanic) with the occasional small sandy beach. Once past the mouth of the Elliott river, which is very pretty, the sandy beaches seem to return.

After Blue Swimmer crabs for lunch I had my first swim since the Sunshine Coast, the water temperature was 23 deg. I have been a little nervous swimming since seeing the signs below since Tin Can Bay.
